Countdown: just 2 weeks until WordCamp Bristol

Clifton Suspension Bridge by night

We are just a fortnight away from the inaugural WordCamp Bristol!

Join us on 13-14 May 2017 at the Watershed on Bristol Harbourside to enjoy a weekend of insightful talks and networking with friendly WordPress users, developers and designers from across the UK and all over the world.

Tickets are selling fast and we only have a handful left. We recommend you reserve yours today to avoid disappointment – we expect to sell out! Find out who else will be attending here.

Our speakers are listed online and the schedule is now available. Talks cover practical and technical advice, business insight, content writing, and valuable experience from the WordPress community. On each day of the two day event, there are two parallel streams of topics for you to choose between. You can learn more about the talks by visiting our sessions page.

During the event, you can also visit the exhibition to meet our generous sponsors. Their support has helped to make WordCamp Bristol a reality because we were able to keep the ticket price low and ensure the event remained inclusive and accessible for all.

Thanks to our awesome volunteer team, we are setting up a Happiness Bar. This is a place for any WordPress related questions or queries, however simple or complex. Attendees are also welcome to join in and provide support, review code and give back to the community.

In addition to a packed schedule, we’re hosting an after-party on Saturday evening. This will take place at the Watershed – i.e. the same location as the event, so you’re not wandering round a strange city trying to find a different venue.

Key information about travel and accommodation can be found on our Visiting Bristol page, and our team of volunteers will be able to give a helping hand for anyone unfamiliar with the city. Get in touch for more information.

We’ll be posting regular news and updates on our Twitter account. Follow us: @wordcampbristol and join the conversation: #WCBRS

Do you want a t-shirt that fits?

T-Shirt

Of course you do, there’s nothing worse than a baggy t-shirt, except maybe one that’s too tight and shows off your spare tyre!

If you want to choose the size and style of your free t-shirt you need to register for WordCamp Bristol by midnight tonight (Tue 25 Apr). Available sizes are S, M, and L, and available styles are loose and fitted.

Anyone who registers after midnight will get a medium loose-fit t-shirt as we need to send our order to the printers tomorrow morning.

So the pressure is on! Get your tickets here!!!

Our schedule is up!!!

Schedule

With just three weeks to go until WordCamp Bristol we have finally published our schedule.

We have a fantastic range of speakers presenting a diverse selection of talks. Some speakers are local, many are coming from elsewhere in the UK, and some are even travelling from abroad to deliver their talks. Check out the speaker profiles and the talk descriptions.

There’s surely something for everyone – and with teas/coffees and lunches thrown in over both days, along with t-shirts and other swag, there’s no reason for the WordPress enthusiast not to be there!

Tickets are still available at the very reasonable price of just £25 from: https://2017.bristol.wordcamp.org/tickets/

Call for speakers now closed

Our call for speakers has now closed.

We’re really excited by the range of talks available for us to choose from and amazed by the high quality of the submissions. We think we’ll be able to draw up a fantastic programme of talks with the choice available to us.

Thanks to everyone who has submitted a talk –  some have even submitted more than one. We have had many more people wanting to speak than our schedule will accommodate. This means that unfortunately some of you will be disappointed.

We will be notifying successful speakers in the next few days.  We’re really looking forward to meeting the speakers at the WordCamp and hearing their talks!

Great job guys – you’ve helped to make the very first WordCamp Bristol amazing!

Planning your trip to Bristol

Bristol ferry

As we’re aware that many people are coming to Bristol for the WordCamp from outside the city we’ve prepared some information so that you can plan your visit.

Travel information, hotels, and even where you can park for free can be found on our new Visiting Bristol page.

With just a little over a month to go it’s time to start getting in the zone. Hope you’re looking forward to it as much as we are!
